sovereignty (7)

10895905487?profile=originalEditors Note: This "Re-declaration of Independence" was first published in the North American News Service (Summer 1995) to restore the sovereignty of the American people. Then it was included as Chapter 15 in the 2nd Edition of the Global Sovereign’s Handbook (1998).

Preamble

All thirteen free and independent, sovereign states of America, excepting the sovereign Indian nations, were in agreement in making the original Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The people then, as the people now, have gathered the courage to liberate themselves from the bondage of foreign “rule.”

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for a nation, a group of people, or an individual to declare themselves free from the “rule” of another, then it is common decency, with respect to the opinions of all other people, to explain the reasons or grounds for the declaration.

Statement of Unalienable Rights and Natural Law

We the People believe these truths to be self-evident, to be so obvious that they need no proof, that all people, both men and women, regardless of race, sex, creed, or color are created equal under the natural law. We believe the Creator gives all of us certain unalienable rights that cannot be taken away. These unalienable rights are above and beyond the civil rights any government may enumerate. That among these rights are life, liberty, property, family, community, and the freedom to enjoy happiness.

To assure that these unalienable rights are protected and preserved for all the people, governments are created to enforce and defend the public trust. The source of authority from which all governments are created shall remain with the people for all time. We the People are the sovereign power from which all laws and governments arise.

If a government abuses its power or usurps the public trust, then the people have the unalienable right and a duty to change, alter or reform their government, or to abolish it completely and start a new one that will abide by the principles of natural law.

UnCOMMON SENSE dictates that an established government should not be overthrown for petty reasons. However, it is the nature of human beings to tolerate mistreatment, to grow accustomed to tyranny and chains rather than risk getting rid of a repressive and uncompassionate master.

Government maybe a necessary and often unpredictable evil, but at certain times during its history, a government will go too far in abusing the rights of its people. Today, more and more of the American people are realizing that the federal United States government has consistently lied, cheated, stolen, abused and killed its own people for many generations, that the American people have more to fear from their own government than enemies abroad or criminals within.

That the natural expression of our freedoms, the right to own property, and the unalienable rights secured by the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are perceived as a threat by our own government is a symptom of the inevitable conclusion that the federal government must be stopped! Illegal, immoral and unconscionable activities of a government out of control have now reached into the lives of all Americans.

When this happens, it is the peoples' right and duty to abolish the current government and set up a new one that will better protect our rights, preserve our liberties, and uphold the public trust. Through this “Re-Declaration of Independence,”

We the People must once again become a free, sovereign people. We the People can reclaim our sovereign Citizenship of one of the several states of the constitutional Republic. Read more (pdf)...

There is a food revolution taking hold all over America, whether it is in the form of demanding labeling of GM foods, the right to produce and sell raw milk and other commodities, or - in the case of Sedgwick, Maine - declaring all local food transactions of any kind free and legal.

According to the website FoodRenegade.com, Sedgwick is the first city in the U.S. to free itself from the constraints of federal and state food regulation. Published reports say the town has passed an ordinance that gives its citizens the right "to produce, sell, purchase, and consume local foods of their choosing," regulations be damned. The ordinance includes raw milk, meats that are slaughtered locally, all produce and just about anything else you might imagine.

And what's more, three additional towns in Maine are expected to take up similar ordinances soon, said the FoodRenegade.com.

Gee - good, ol' fashioned buyer-seller agreements?

Observers of the Sedgwick ordinance say it is much more than just "statement" legislation. Writes blogger David Grumpert, at TheCompletePatient.com:

This isn't just a declaration of preference. The proposed warrant added, "It shall be unlawful for any law or regulation adopted by the state or federal government to interfere with the rights recognized by this Ordinance." In other words, no state licensing requirements prohibiting certain farms from selling dairy products or producing their own chickens for sale to other citizens in the town.

What about potential legal liability and state or federal inspections? It's all up to the seller and buyer to negotiate. "Patrons purchasing food for home consumption may enter into private agreements with those producers or processors of local foods to waive any liability for the consumption of that food. Producers or processors of local foods shall be exempt from licensure and inspection requirements for that food as long as those agreements are in effect." Imagine that-buyer and seller can agree to cut out the lawyers. That's almost un-American, isn't it?

According to Deborah Evans, a Sedgwick citizen, the ordinance further states:

  1. Producers or processors of local foods in the Town of Sedgwick are exempt from licensure and inspection provided that the transaction is only between the producer or processor and a patron when the food is sold for home consumption.
  2. Producers or processors of local foods in the Town of Sedgwick are exempt from licensure and inspection provided that the products are prepared for, consumed or sold at a community social event.

For those questioning the legality of the ordinance - as in, it obviously circumvents state and federal food laws - she notes:

[W]e the radicals who concocted this mutinous act of infamy believe that according to the Home Rule provisions of our State Constitution, the citizens of Sedgwick have the right to enact an ordinance that is "local and municipal in character."

'It's about time'

Many of the local farmers say the ordinance is just what is needed.

"This ordinance creates favorable conditions for beginning farmers and cottage-scale food processors to try out new products, and to make the most of each season's bounty," farmer Bob St. Peter told the website FoodFreedom.com. "My family is already working on some ideas we can do from home to help pay the bills and get our farm going."

"Tears of joy welled in my eyes as my town voted to adopt this ordinance," said Sedgwick resident and local farm patron Mia Strong. "I am so proud of my community. They made a stand for local food and our fundamental rights as citizens to choose that food."

St. Peter, who is a board member of the National Family Farm Council, a food freedom advocacy group, notes that small farmers have a much tougher row to hoe, especially in today's economy, so they need the ability to sell their products more freely.

"It's tough making a go of it in rural America," he said. "Rural working people have always had to do a little of this and a little of that to make ends meet. But up until the last couple generations, we didn't need a special license or new facility each time we wanted to sell something to our neighbors. Small farmers and producers have been getting squeezed out in the name of food safety, yet it's the industrial food that is causing food borne illness, not us."

Video D'Light

By Johnny Liberty

Sirius Media produced and packaged a film of one of my seminars in Vancouver, BC entitled "The Taboo of Sovereignty, Money, Love and Power" several years ago, but I have not released the film. I intend to do so in the Spring of 2010.

In the meantime if you want a taste of some of my favorite videos visit the VodPod ICResource channel or YouTube ICResource channel and subscribe. There's even a short clip somebody posted of the infamous Johnny Liberty speaking on freedom and sovereignty way back in 1995 at the Granada Forum. Really I did that way back when? Seems like another lifetime already.

Living Free

10895903470?profile=originalBy Happy Oasis

"Freedom is our greatest joy", declared an oriental sage of antiquity. This perennial, yet debatable adage, persists today perhaps partly because freedom and joy are, by definition, inextricably woven, possibly more so than you may imagine.

The first several definitions of freedom start with the idea of enjoying as in "enjoying personal rights", "enjoying absence of confinement" and "enjoying political liberty". Therefore, having rights and liberties does not constitute freedom. Enjoying them does.

According to definitions, the full experience of freedom requires a very personal choice to enjoy, to live with a quality of awareness that may also evoke responses from outrage to action, from sorrow to singing, from silent contemplation to celebration.

A well-known liberty granted to Americans was the “pursuit of happiness”. Contrary to popular assumptions, pursue did not imply “to hunt or to chase down”. Pursue meant "to follow and to practice" as in to follow the ways of happiness so as to practice happiness. The pursuit or practice of happiness and the practice of freedom are inextricably fused.

How can we each uniquely embrace the multi-faceted practices of freedom and happiness in the eclectic array of our lives?

Answering these stirring questions may offer added insight.

In this moment, will I be a victim of circumstance or a master?

Do I (really) have to do anything or do I consciously choose to do whatever I do? Do I elect to be more often an excuse for defeat or an exemplary of inspiration? Do I define life as a medley of endless obstacles or as a parade of ceaseless opportunities?

"Either everything is a miracle or nothing is a miracle," Albert Einstein concurred.

How do you define freedom, and what are your most succulent strategies to “Living Free in an Unfree World”?  When identifying the facets of freedom, many of us start with thoughts of free time, creative freedom and financial freedom followed by political freedom.

That's a fine start. However, what about freedom to choose our community, including the virtues and values of our community; freedom to express love, fun, joy and kindness; intercultural, artistic, entrepreneurial and multi-linguistic freedoms; freedom to choose our j.o.b. (joy of being), home, health and habits; freedom to choose our most cherished geography; the choice to choose our country, including our preferred climates, seasons and ecosystems, and most of all, perceptions.

About Happy Oasis

As an Adventure Anthropologist, Environmentalist and Blissologist, for me, the ongoing study of the freedom and joy together as a whole is essential.

Political freedom is something many Americans have assumed as an inalienable right. While living abroad for more than a decade in an eclectic array of locations, it soon became evident that the majority of people on the planet are restricted in their fullest expressions of freedom—of creativity and lifestyle—id est, the pursuit (= practice) of happiness due to some form of governing interference from the top down and simultaneously from the mores of the masses, yet ultimately due to individual choices.

Beyond "Tea Parties." Beyond Elections. It's Time To Hold Our Government Accountable - Peacefully!

• Institutionalized Citizen Vigilance
• Defense of the Constitution
• Education of Our Nation

The We The People Congress is a nationwide, non-partisan, not-for-profit membership organization of constitutional activists committed to "institutionalizing" citizen vigilance through civic education, monitoring of governments, and organizing grassroots programs of civic resistance to confront and repel tyranny.

Based on the life work of Thomas Jefferson, the Congress is organized into local state and county "ward republics." The Congress works closely with the WTP Foundation to achieve its mission to restore Constitutional Order and reclaim Liberty.

Our current work focuses centrally around the long-forgotten First Amendment Right to Petition. The Congress is determined to resurrect the "Capstone Right" of the Bill of Rights as an exercise of the People's natural Right to Sovereignty over their servant governments.

The Right to Petition is the profound, peaceful and constitutional solution that will save our Republic and restore Constitutional Order to our nation. Read more...
